Michael Jackson: The Experience launched on Wii, DS and PSP in late 2010 but its Kinect appearance was delayed, presumably for the addition of "the extra level of polish that fans demand". EA Ran Out of Time to Bring Tiger Woods to Kinect

While EA's next golf game, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters is heading to PlayStation Move and Wii, the Xbox 360 version won't be supporting Microsoft's motion-controller gadget. According to EA Sports top dog Peter Moore, it's not due to a lack of effort, just a lack of time.

The team basically ran out of time from a development perspective. We were looking at how we could integrate the technology that is Kinect, which is obviously doing very well, and put it into a game that requires you to hold something to have that real element of integration and authenticity.

It likely didn't help that this year's Tiger outing is launching months before its usual Autumn release, but at least we know the company investigated a hands-free approach to golf, so we could yet see Tiger come to Kinect in future instalments.

PrimeSense’s Kinect Technology Could Move to Other Devices

Iwata: Making Consoles is Like Buying Sushi, and Other Insights

Crazy comments from top dog

We could have had 3D gaming years ago, had Nintendo's experiments with the Virtual Boy, Famicom Disk System, GameCube and GameBoy Advance gone better. Does this frustrate President Satoru Iwata? Of course, but it also seemingly makes him hungry, if his comments in the latest Iwata Asks are anything to go by:

I don’t know if this is a very good example or not, but when you’re making hardware, it’s like you’re sitting in a conveyor-belt sushi shop staring at the various technologies as they pass by. As you’re watching, the moment comes when you say, “Agh! That’s what I want!” and suddenly you reach out and grab something. I think that’s what hardware development is like.

Shigeru Miyamoto joined in with the sushi theme:

You hesitate over sushi items you haven’t eaten before, and sometimes you get fooled. You snatch it up, but it’s no good.

We've tasted the 3DS and, like you, we're hungry for more. there'll be live updates next Wednesday, January 19th, letting you know when the 3DS restaurant is open for business and how much you'll be charged for a nibble.
