Make your Move

While Microsoft's Kinect has gained itself quite a reputation for the number of hacks and unofficial applications developed by academics, amateur programmers and the frankly bored, but PlayStation Move has missed out on similar functionality. However, that situation may change in future, judging from this snippet from a Game Developers Conference session:

This talk will bring developers up to speed on developing for the PlayStation Move controller. We will cover developing for the new PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter accessory. We will discuss the new Move Server project that will make it possible for academics and hobbyists to develop software using the PlayStation Move controller on their own PCs.

Sony first dabbled with user-generated gaming back with Net Yaroze in the early PlayStation days, and of course recent hit LittleBigPlanet 2 places its emphasis on users creating their own games, but being able to do so through a PC would be forging new ground for Sony, potentially opening up Move to a whole new audience.
