Tanner

Tanner is a feature-length film written, produced and directed by Oliver Crocker. It tells the story of a hitman named Vic Tanner and his struggle to come to terms with the reality of his family life. These three tracks feature two of the film’s main musical themes - in Photoframe, Vic contemplates his father’s abusive behaviour towards him; Let’s talk about Dad again is fairly self-explanatory; and Jack Revealed is one of the final tracks of the film, and probably my favourite piece I’ve written.

The film also features several songs from my debut album as Prosody, “Long Distance” - Sky Lights, Long Distance and New Leaf all appear in the film, so head over to the Prosody section to listen to them!

Diversification: The Future of Farming?

This was a student documentary I scored in January 2007, about the nature of farming in the UK and whether it would be necessary to diversify in order to preserve the farmer’s way of life.

The documentary takes on a cyclical structure, starting at the beginning of the day and ending as the farm shop closes to customers. Due to this I tried to create a soundtrack that changed throughout: the film opens with a very bouncy, rustic acoustic guitar and flute tune, then closes with a sleepy, beautiful synth-led piece. I’m really proud of this soundtrack, especially as I wrote and recorded it all in a morning.

Dad’s Army and Beyond: The Frank Williams Story

Another documentary, this time for Oliver Crocker. As it tells the story of veteran actor Frank Williams of Dad’s Army fame, I created a soundtrack that combined both wistful nostalgia with the triumphant, jingoistic war-time music. This piece is from the introduction - unfortunately I don’t yet have clearance to upload the others.

Shining Online

Shining Online is a free roleplaying game for the PC developed by my brother and me. It’s unfortunately not yet finished, but at least the soundtrack sounds great! This is some of the earliest music I wrote in brand-new arrangements.
