Get Ready for Macho King’s Story!

Now Little King's Story has successfully conquered all corners of the globe following its release in Japan last month, the game's creator and all-around genius Yoshiro Kimura spoke to Joystiq about his ideas for the potential follow-up we mentioned months ago, and they're as barmy as you'd expect.

Mr Kimura: I realized that one of the reasons Little King's Story didn't sell well is that users prefer to have those big huge fat guys.

Over a Third of Wii Games Go Unreviewed

We do our best here at Nintendo Life to cover every game that's lovingly pressed onto disc for Wii consoles, but even with our team of review robots working around the clock for less than a drop of oil, there aren't enough hours in the day. It seems it's not just us straining under the weight of Wii reviews, though - according to industry analyst Jesse Divnich, 37% of Wii games released in the first six months of 2009 began their lives without the joyful experience of being reviewed.

Rare May Return to Nintendo Consoles

Rare used to be Nintendo's behemoth, their go-to guys when it came to crafting first-party masterpieces. They really made their name on the N64, but afterwards their relationship with the Big N got a little more complicated and they now reside under the Microsoft umbrella. However, last year they released the rather sensational Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise, a game which regrettably undersold considering its huge quality.

Ashes Developer Loses A Third of its Staff

Australian studio Transmission Games makes unfortunate lay-offs

Despite the sales success of Ashes Cricket 2009 - and the enormous number of emails we receive about it here at Nintendo Life - the game's original developer Transmission Games (the Wii version was ported by UK-based Gusto Games) has just had to let go a third of its staff due to another potential project falling through. It's understood that the lay-offs primarily included quality assurance and programmers, although there's no exact information available.

System Update 4.2 Bricking Wiis Left, Right and Centre

Consoles slightly left of centre should be fine, though

The Wii only received its 4.2 update the other day, but already the Internet's alive with reports it's causing machines to stop working completely, with many popping up on our very own forums. The update's major purpose was to remove the Homebrew Channel from consoles, as well as protect the Wii more robustly against piracy, but it appears it's had an unintended negative effect on legitimate gamers too.
