Square Enix's The World Ends With You is, let's face it, pretty sensational: innovative, individual and impossibly stylish, it's received critical acclaim since launch. Like many great games, however, the question of a sequel looms over it like an irritating Noise: Tetsuya Nomura, the game's designer, wants to see a sequel, and he's not afraid to say so.

I’m really happy that the game was so well received in North America. I definitely want to make a sequel. I’m very busy working on other titles right now, but when the time is right, I would love to make another instalment of The World Ends with You.

Although currently busy with several Final Fantasy projects, the fact that Nomura wants to create a sequel to one of the DS's best-loved RPGs is tantalising indeed, so perhaps we could see a follow-up on 3DS within a few years.

Life is full of struggles, but few have such a cheery outcome as the one between Powerhead Games' Jason Schreiber, his son and a mobile phone. Whilst the youngster mashed the keys on his dad's phone to see the pretty lights, Mr Schreiber Snr had the idea of creating an early childhood game for DSiWare: that game is Did It Myself ABC123.

Sand and chess on WiiWare; Aero 2 on VC; Links, chess and puzzles on DSiWare

To call this a catch-up week would be a slight understatement: several of these games have been out for months, with one game reaching European shores after over a year and a half. Enough history, let's get on with it.

Sandy Beach (500pts, Konami) – This sandy simulator was released in North America in January 2009 and Japan one year ago, but Europeans can finally enjoy their own indoor beach thanks to Konami. Creative compilation coming to North America

DSiWare Donatellos will already be aware of the Art Academy series, with Semester One and Semester Two already available for download, but Nintendo wants to get everybody involved in the class, even that annoying kid at the back. That's why it's combining both downloads into a single retail release, called Art Academy, and releasing it on October 25th in North America.

Rolling rolling rolling

The victim of a spate of delays, Furry Legends finally landed on WiiWare last month, and the delays were to enable the game to launch in all territories as closely together as possible. Now Europeans can finally stop gazing out the window and wondering, as the game will launch across the continent on August 20th.

Just wait and see

We read in a recent report that 1 in 10 people can't see 3D properly, but there have been concerns that even those who can see 3D images could suffer from eye strain and poor vision from playing the console too much. As such, Nintendo recommends children under the age of 7 do not play 3DS with the 3D effect on to prevent any possible issues, which may be a smart move according to University of Cambridge expert Neil Dodgson.

With regard to children under seven [playing 3DS], the answer is that we just do not know whether they will have a particular problem or not. We will only really know if there is a problem if we get a spate of cases where young adults find that they have eyesight problems that can be statistically correlated with excessive use of 3D at an earlier age.

Of course, no ethically-minded company is likely to endorse the kind of research and experimentation that could answer this question conclusively, so it seems prevention is the best option. Could Nintendo include a parental option to switch the 3D effect off entirely? Only time will tell.
