Software and hardware sales up
Sony's PlayStation division reported a profitable Q2 in the current financial year thanks to increased sales of PS3 hardware, software and PlayStation Move.

Tough talk indeed
Cast your mind back four years to the launch of Nintendo's Wii console: it was quite a success, you might recall. It obviously made an impression on Microsoft bigwig Aaron Greenberg, who's got the other white console's sales in his sights.We haven't given any projections beyond this holiday, but this will be the largest launch we've ever had as a business. We'll definitely sell more sensors than the Wii sold when it launched or the Xbox 360 sold when it launched.According to Nintendo, over 600,000 Wii consoles were sold in the first eight days of availability Stateside, quite a yardstick for Microsoft to measure itself against. Let's just hope that recent reports of stock shortages don't get in the way of the sensor delivering on this sales promise.
And the figures too
The Sonic Colours Special Edition with the Wisp figures is all well and good, but what it's really lacking is an awesome blue Classic Controller. Thankfully now gamers down under can grab themselves a branded Classic Controller when the game launches later this year.
Microsoft's Phil Spencer recently said he owned a Move but preferred Kinect, and now Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg has thrown his hat in the Move vs. Kinect ring.
Demos and better organisation inside
We got our first glimpse of the 3DS's Shop Channel today courtesy of a Nintendo investors' meeting, and it looks like it'll offer a far better experience than its predecessors on DSi and Wii.

It's the announcement we all knew was coming: Xbox's general manager for UK and Ireland has confirmed every Kinect sensor for November 10th is spoken for, but has promised there will be more stock on the way before Christmas comes around.

If you want to survive
If you've managed to score an early copy of any Kinect launch game, don't put it in your 360 console just yet: it will update your 360 to the new Kinect-enabled dashboard, but you won't be able to connect to Live without downloading another update. The problem with that is the newest update doesn't exist on the servers yet – for obvious reasons – so you'll be stuck in a never-ending loop of misery.
