Happy holidays and mystic quests

The past two weeks have seen high profile downloadable releases in both shapely and spiny forms, so whilst this week lacks a true flagship title it does offer two new Nintendo-published titles and the scheduled Virtual Console download.

ThruSpace (Nintendo, 800pts) – Formerly known as the far more descriptive ThruSpace: High Velocity 3D Puzzle, this is all about manoeuvring an object called a Keydron into gaps, and rotating it to alter the direction of its shadow earns you bonus points. Konami Has a Quartet of Franchises Heading to 3DS

Contra, PES, Metal Gear Solid and... Frogger

That long list of third-party 3DS titles contained plenty of mouthwatering prospects from countless publishers, but one title that particularly stood out was the prospect of a new Contra title from Konami. Now the Japanese firm has announced it'll be bringing the run-and-gun epic to Europe, alongside three other 3D titles.

Wii Party Leads Nintendo Chart Climb

This just in: Nintendo advertising campaign works

Never let it be said that teaming a completely harmless boyband with a family-friendly video game doesn't work. Kiddie favourite boppers JLS have clearly been doing sterling work in promoting Wii Party, as the game leaps six places to number four in the UK chart.

Features: Move’s First Month

What do we make of it?

On September 17th, PlayStation Move launched across Europe with a fairly wide range of titles: EyePet: Move Edition showed the controller's cute side, but Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition catered to core gamers too. Now we've had a month in Move's company, it's a good time to take stock of the controller's impact and its future prospects.

Software

So far 18 PlayStation Move games have been released in Europe, quite a healthy figure for a launch period on a new controller. The ease with which these games can be patched means some of them were released months before Move – step forward, Heavy Rain – which slightly skews the number of games physically released in this first month.
